The Neck Bone's Connected to the...

It started in my lower back. A pulled muscle from (yes, this is true) wiping the glass top table with windex. I ate several Aleve, moaned and groaned for two nights and plugged in the heating pad.

It moved. To my left shoulder blade. The throbbing, muscle spasm type. I ate several Aleve for several days (being aware of the 10-day limit before imminent liver failure). I moaned, groaned, used the heating pad and complained bitterly about my luck.

It moved again. To my neck. The stiff, stabbing pain type. It is in that stage now. Another two days of Aleve and I will have to switch to ibuprofin.

Must be stress! (Or, I am getting old!)

You poor thing! I've been battling muscle pulls myself since I broke my arm in May. I've been seeing a physical therapist for rehab (for the arm) and he's given me some tips for the back and side sprains, too. Basically, he said to use ice, not heat! (I was using the heating pad, too.) He said that heat doesn't calm down the inflammation, whereas ice does. Aleve or Advil is good, too.
Hope you feel better soon!

I tripped on some uneven concrete and fell onto some stairs at UC Berkeley (on Friday the 13th, no less!), putting my left arm out to break the fall. (I guess it was better than smashing my face!) Anyway, it was a severe break just above the wrist (like snapping a pencil in two! eep!). They carted me away in an ambulence and I had surgery (with three pins) to set the bone that evening. Unfortunately, it happened just three days before my Greek final, so I had to take an incomplete and do the final at the end of June. I had a cast for 6 weeks, and a brace for another 3. At least I can type with two hands and play the piano now, but it's going to take a while to build up my strength again. I keep pulling muscles because my body is still off-balance. Moral of the story: I need to watch where I'm going! :P Anyway, I hope you feel better soon!
